Pedro Sá was born in Guimarães, Portugal. He began his musical studies at the age of 10 at the CCM – Centro de Cultura Musical in Santo Tirso, under the guidance of Professor Pedro Leal.
At the age of 13, he joined Hugo Ribeiro’s oboe class at ARTAVE – Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do Ave, where he also studied with Luís Alves.
In 2020, he pursued his higher education with Jean-Louis Capezzali at the Haute École de Musique in Lausanne, Switzerland. He is currently studying at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, Germany.
He has further honed his skills through masterclasses with renowned oboists, including Thomas Indermühle, Samuel Bastos, Dominik Wollenweber, Jacques Tys, Diethelm Jonas, Johannes Grosso, Nick Deutsch, Fabien Thouand, Stefan Schilli, and François Leleux.
He has performed under the direction of internationally renowned conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Zubin Mehta, Myung-Whun Chung, Daniele Gatti, Kirill Petrenko, and Tugan Sokhiev.
He has been a member of youth orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouworkest Young and the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra, and has also collaborated as an academician with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
Since 2024, he has served as principal oboe of the Teatro alla Scala Orchestra and the Filarmonica della Scala, a position he attained at the age of only 21.
